The completion is the result of Anwar Sadat’s determination to expand the city’s coverage through the new terminal.
The facilities at the new terminal are modern and exemplary. There is parking for 30 buses, 110 two-wheelers and 110 cars. The new terminal has 2 lifts and 3 staircases to access the first floor, a ticket counter, a station office, a police aid post and six stalls. The new K-building will have a 170-seat waiting area, canteen, separate toilets for women, men and people with disabilities, as well as fire extinguishers, drinking water, sewage treatment system and rainwater harvesting.
The eternal dream of long distance travelers and Aluva city dwellers is waiting to spread their wings. The construction of the terminal, which is 80 per cent complete, was inaugurated on January 28, 2020. When the lockdown was announced two months later, construction had to be halted. Perhaps if the plague had not hit the country, its construction could have been completed quickly. Aluva would have had a bus terminal that would have brightened up and comforted the passengers.
The new stand was built entirely with the MLA’s asset development fund. The amount required for the construction of the terminal is `8.64 crore. The new KSRTC Bus stand is a total of 30155 sq. Ft. Building with 18520 sq. Ft. Below the building and 11635 sq. Ft. On the first floor. The fully equipped state-of-the-art bus terminal at Aluva will be a landmark in development, including a diesel pump, workshop, garage and office buildings.
